Welcome to The World of 1984

In George Orwell's grim look into the future in what was then the distant year of 1984, the results of a docile society is shown in the form of totalitarianism. Orwell's masterpiece has long been praised as a classic book to last for the ages.

1984 was published in the year 1949 as a result of Orwell's distaste for Fascism and Communism. Orwell made the heart of his book in 1944, in the midst of Stalinism and World War II. With dictators such as Stalin and Hitler around and alive, it was all but inevitable for Orwell, an enemy of Totalitarianism, to write this book as warning that such governments can appear anywhere if left unchecked.
